Budget and Fiscal Services (BFS) is responsible for the management of all agency financial activities including Accounting, Budgeting, Contractual Agreements, Financial Systems, Grants, and Payroll.
The division consists of the Budget Section, the Accounting Section, the Financial Systems and Payroll Section, and the Contracting Section.
Duties
The incumbent will supervise the Accounts Payable unit and serve as the agency technical expert on accounts payable and purchase and travel card payments.
Our new teammate will be able to:
Serve as the designated agency credit card administrator.
Serve as the principle advisor to the Accounting Manager on topics pertaining to accounts payable and credit cards.
Assist the Accounting Manager in the development of the Accounting Section’s portion of the division’s annual operational plan.
Review accounting procedures, agency receipting records, and agency controls to ensure conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Recommend procedural changes needed to meet GAAP standards.
Monitor agency compliance with internal control procedures and requirements, agency policies, and state and federal regulations as they pertain to accounts payable and credit card functions.
Design, implement, review, and update internal policies and procedures that relate to accounts payable and credit card management duties.
Assist in the end-of-fiscal year/biennial closeout process by ensuring all agency payments are processed accurately and efficiently and applied to the correct accounting period.
NOTE: This is not a telework position.
Candidates must be able and willing to work in the office and commute to Olympia.
A hybrid work schedule may be available after training is complete.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Must have 18 quarter hours (or 12 semester) in accounting, auditing, or budgeting.
Must have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
Must possess a valid, unrestricted Washington State Driver's License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
