We are excited to announce this position for Fiscal Analyst 3, Payroll, located at our WDVA Central Office in scenic Olympia, Washington!
*This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step L.
Step M has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules.
Please Note: Standard business hours for this position is 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
Flexible work schedule may be considered, subject to supervisory approval.

These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to honorably discharged Veterans, including, in some instances, their spouses, widows, or Gold Star Families.
In this position as a Payroll Specialist (Fiscal Analyst 3), you will support the Department's mission, goals, and objectives by developing systems and processes that ensure that every employee is paid accurately and timely for services performed, ultimately ensuring services are provided to department clients.
Your role will directly contribute to the overall financial health of our agency.

Setting up new hires, process rehires, transfers, separations, shift differentials, and all other actions within HRMS and/or PAY1.
Serving as the backup supervisor in the absence of the Payroll supervisor.
Reconciling the payroll revolving account.
Quarterly tax preparing and filing.
Maintaining and monitoring benefits in compliance with HCA, OFM, CBAs, and Agency.
Processing special pay for those employees that qualify.
Establishing, monitoring, and maintaining hardcopy file folders for all employees.
Inputting, balancing, and adjusting leave information.
Entering and retrieving data using the state's payroll, healthcare, and retirement systems.
Analyzing and calculating payroll data adjustments related to IRS levies, wage assignments, deceased employee's benefits, etc.
Preparing payment and journal vouchers for the processing of shared leave, garnishments, warrant cancellations, and Statute of Limitations.
Reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting all payroll records/reports for specified employees to ensure that basic pay, overtime, and shift differential have been paid correctly and that all leave (and leave accruals) have been taken, paid, and/or accrued correctly.

* Qualifications Required: High school diploma or GED.
Between two (2) to three (3) years of accounting experience as a Fiscal Analyst 2 or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a payroll processing role.
Twelve (12) semester or eighteen (18) quarter hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting from an accredited institution whose accreditation is recognized by the U.
S.
Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or foreign equivalent.
Please note: Additional experience may not substitute for the minimum educational credits.
Preferred/Desired: Bachelor's Degree in accounting, auditing, or budgeting.
Three (3) to four (4) years of relevant professional experience.
