The Accounting Clerk will provide support to the Accounting department by carrying out a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial tasks.
Accounting Clerk responsibilities include full-cycle accounts payable, maintaining financial filing systems, reconciling statements and preparing various month-end reports.
A successful Accounting Clerk must be familiar with basic accounting procedures and have a solid understanding of financial data systems.
*RESPONSIBILITIES: *
· Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department
· Prepare and maintain accounting documents and records accurately
· Research and resolve discrepancies or documentation issues
· Reconcile statements and accounts regularly
· Full-cycle Accounts Payable by three-way-match
· Accurately code transactions by GL account and department
· Maintain vendor files and complete credit applications as needed
· Batch and post sales orders, customer payments and credit memos
· Review new customer forms and information for completeness
· Setup and maintain new customer accounts in the system
· Track certain expenses and accounts for month-end reporting
*SKILLS REQUIREMENTS: *
· A solid understanding of Accounts Payable processes
· Understanding of basic accounting procedures
· Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
· Competency in MS Office, databases and ERP software, preferably Sage 300 AccPac or Sage 50
· Strong analytical skills and understanding of the general ledger and chart of accounts
· Skilled at data entry with accuracy and efficiency
· Ability to prioritize and multitask through strong organizational skills
· Professional communication skills and ability to work well with others
*REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: *
· Minimum: High School diploma
· Two-year Accounting degree preferred
· 3-5 years proven accounting experience, preferably processing Accounts Payable
*WORK ENVIRONMENT:*
· While performing the duties of this job the employee will work in an office environment.
· The noise level is usually quiet but can involve background chatter and distractions.
· The employee will be working with computers, phones, printers and paper.
· Some heavy lift and carrying will be required during year-end filing and storage processes.
