The Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) seeks to fill a Fiscal Analyst 2 (in-training option).
This full-time permanent position is based in Olympia, Washington.
After onboarding/training is complete, this position may be eligible for partial telework.
Telework is a combination of in-building and off-site days.

Position Overview This position reports to the General Accounting Manager and is responsible for interfacing with multiple systems and exercising independent judgement in determining the appropriate application of rules and regulations (RCW, WAC, SAAM) in the following areas: general accounting and customer service, and travel authorization and reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities Employee and Non-Employee Travel Tasks include: Audits Travel Authorization Processes Travel Reimbursement Ensures compliance with SAAM travel rules and OPSI policy Verifies correctness of requested reimbursements and amounts Research questions from Team, Partners, and Vendors Creates and processes payment batches using AFRS, Excel and Toolbox Provides General Accounting Support and Customer Service Tasks include: Researches and responds to customer inquiries Provides backup to accounting staff Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis except for the accounting credits) At least 12 semester or 18 quarter hours of college-level accounting, auditing, or budgeting; credits can include classes such as math, statistics, and/or any other analytical math or science class (to be vetted by HR) One year of experience in financial administration such as administering accounts payable or receivable, processing purchase orders, or making payment on invoices In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following: Ability to efficiently use a personal computer and applicable software to successfully perform the essential job functions of the position Ability to use standard spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel to create, modify, print, and format spreadsheets, work with formulas and functions, use templates, styles, AutoFormats and multiple worksheets Desired Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, audit, or budget Experience in Microsoft Power Aps Experience performing simple record-keeping tasks such as posting or totaling numbers or other data in columns or on a computer; or working with numbers requiring detail and accuracy Experience performing accounting functions Experience with Reconciliations Experience with Year End and Biennial End closing, per OFM Guidelines Customer service experience providing assistance and resolution to customers regarding inquiries, complaints, or problems on the phone, email or in writing Accounting experience working in a Washington state agency fiscal office Required and desirable experience may be gained concurrently Compensation The annual compensation for the position is $44,400 – $59,616 per year and depends upon experience, educational background, and qualifications.
Geographic differentials may be applied based on work location of successful candidate.
