SUMMARY
In a culturally relevant manner, the Fiscal Director will oversee and manage the fiscal operations, which includes supervision of accounting staff, overseeing internal controls, setting financial targets, implementing financial management strategies, developing financial plans, engaging with donors, funders and other stakeholders, enhancing financial strategies, conducting feasibility studies, monitoring expenditure, overseeing annual insurance, monitoring cash flow, evaluating investments, and managing tax compliance.
The Fiscal Director should have skills in sound financial planning coupled with an ability to direct financial assets to assist our organization in managing debt, improve revenue, maintain a healthy financial position, and enhance sustainability.
In addition the Fiscal Director must possess strong analytical skills, good strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, exceptional numerical proficiency, and strong leadership skills.
The Fiscal Director will harmonize financial operations, develop effective financial strategies, guide efforts towards financial stability, monitor all financial activities, promote revenue growth, ensure compliance with accounting regulations, and maintain good relationships with SafePlace stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily from a lense of equity.
The Essential Duties and Responsibilities of this position include the following.

Maintain all aspects of non-profit accounting.
Prepare monthly/quarterly grant billings.
Maintain documentation for all expenditures.
Process and complete data entry into the accounting system (MIP): revenue and expenditures; assets and depreciation; all payroll records and expenditures; Complete quarterly/annual tax reports (IRS 941, L&I, Employment Security, W-2, W-3, and 1099 reports).
Prepare monthly financial statements for the Board of Directors.
Prepare records and documentation for the annual audit and coordinate the audit process with the auditors.
Track expenditure of and maintain documentation on designated funds.
Ability to translate financial concepts to and effectively collaborate with programmatic and fundraising collegues who do not necessisarily have a background in finance.
Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the Executive Director.
Administer and review all financial plans and budgets while monitoring progress and changes.
Work with senior leadership team to inform of the organizations’s financial status With the Executive Director and in collaboration with other departmental directors prepare and develop overall agency budgets and specific department budgets for the use of management teams.
Prepare budget revisions as requested, support budget revision, budget projections and analysis of expenses as needed.
With the Executive Director monitor budget expenses throughout the year.
With the Executive Director prepare and file annual IRS 990 tax form.
Prepare and support the agency annual audit.
Ensure all legal and financial business reports are filed, recorded and archived.
Assist with the following: Budget development for grant applications.
Process and computer input revenue contributions on donor system Prepare and deposit money.
Prepare, process and maintain accounts payable, accounts receivable.
Prepare and process payroll, review salaries and ensure correct fund allocation.
Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.
Create and provide agency-wide and departmental specific budget regulary as requested.
Evaluate financial systems as it relates to future agency financial stability.
Recommend software changes to enhance agency accounting and payroll capabilities.
Assist the Executive Director in the development of financial policies and ensure the fiscal department supports the agencies needs and capacitites.
Ensure the agency budget is within what has been approved by the Board of Directors.
Serve on the SafePlace Operations Management Team.
Ensure the Payroll Clerk supports the agencies needs and capactiites.
Provide ongoing scheduled supervisory meetings with the Fiscal Department staff and ensure annual evaluations are being completed accordingly.
Work closely with the Payroll Clerk to understand fiscal process and programs that the agency utilizes.
Support the Payroll Clerk with agency timesheet revisions.
Perform duties as described in a culturally-relevant manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles and non-profit accounting, including ethical standards.
Two years experience in non profit accounting and/or grant management and four-years experience in financial management.
Experience in budget preparation, monitoring and reporting.
Experience with Microsoft Word for Windows, Excel and Sage Software MIP fund accounting or experience with similar word processing and database management systems.
Able to communicate financial information clearly to all staff and Board of Directors.
Able to meet deadlines/due dates and to work under pressure.
Excellent organizational skills.
Self-motivated.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience with video conferencing platforms, such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
Ability to work cooperatively with staff.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related degree and two years progressively responsible experience in payroll or accounts receivable and accounts payable and financial statement preparation specific to non-profit accounting.
Four years relevant education, training and experience may be substituted for education.
Specific knowledge and abilities acquired must include the following: Knowledge of principles and practices of accounting.

Responsibilities include training the Payroll Clerk; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; carrying out disciplinary procedures; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and providing direction, support, feedback, and motivation.
