The Office of Finance at Saint Martin’s University is seeking a Budget Analyst
Reporting to the Controller, the Grant Accountant/Budget Analyst is responsible for supporting the University’s grant accounting, reporting, and budgeting functions.

This position will assist with other financial reporting including financial statement preparation.
And will provide backup to others in Finance.

Primary Duties Serve as the primary liaison to campus departments regarding routine budget matters including drafting budget proposals and determining remaining funds.
Assist campus departments and key users with budget planning relating to operational, staffing, and strategic goals.
in addition to providing customer service and education in assisting departmental users with budget matters.
Develop and provide University budget training.
Prepare and distribute monthly budget reports to campus departments.
Prepare reports for quarterly budget meetings with senior leadership.
Assist with the development of the university’s annual budget.
Coordinate the processing of budget transfers in accordance with the University’s policies and procedures.
Coordinate with Finance on general ledger reclassifications where needed to ensure actual results are properly recorded.
Assist with developing and maintaining the monthly cashflow forecast.
Manage the budgeting system to facilitate budget creation and/or operating projections.
Work with campus departments and key stakeholders to determine the need for budget reports and develop related reports in conjunction with the Controller and Vice President for Business and Finance (VP B&F).
In conjunction with the Controller and VP B&F, assist the Facilities Director in creating and maintaining capital project budgets and building specific repairs and renovation budgets.
Complete other financial analyses necessary for planning and monitoring.
Other: Provide backup to other finance office staff Complete other duties as assigned COMPETENCIES Strong technical skills in grant compliance, accounting and business analytics including an understanding of GAAP and non-profit accounting.
Requires clear understanding of the business rules, the data being extracted, and the gaps that need to be filled via new reporting .

Effective and efficient use of Microsoft Office tools, financial ERPs, financial reporting systems, and other relevant computer-based accounting programs.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously Must be supportive of a Catholic, Benedictine philosophy of education.
REQUIREMENTS AND/OR CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and three years of accounting or financial experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel (ability to create pivot tables, utilize vlookup, etc.
) Experience using a financial ERP and/or financial reporting tools Successfully pass a background check Preferred: Three years of budget analysis experience or five years of accounting or financial experience Experience using financial reporting and data visualization software.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT Work is performed in a standard office environment.
Physical demands include: Moves objects (less than 20 pounds) long distances (more than 20 feet).
Ability to be mobile campus-wide for appropriate business needs.
Operates a variety of standard office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive arm-hand movements.
