To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Responsible for preparation of financial statement data in accordance with GAAP
Assist with preparation of NCUA 5300 Call Report, FR2900 and various other regulatory reports
Responsible for proper accounting of the investment portfolio, to include but not limited to, recording purchases and sales, performing reconciliations, posting monthly journal entries, and updating pledging/safekeeping
Contributes to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections
Provides cross-training and support for all other duties and responsibilities within the accounting department
Responsible for evaluating and updating departmental procedures and policies
Assist with annual CPA, NCUA and compliance audits and examinations
Performs reconciliations of general ledger, correspondent bank, fixed assets and prepaid accounts
Ability to perform all accounting functions and have an understanding of Credit Union operations
Provides professional and quality internal support to all Credit Union departments and staff
Works directly with Controller and performs ad hoc tasks as assigned
Handle multiple projects in a given time, including during deadline periods
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
Two or more years of related experience within a financial institution or related industry.
Strong computer skills’ including Excel is a must.
Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
Extensive experience with regulatory compliance
