POSITION OVERVIEW: This position assists in the direction of day-to-day activities of the Finance department and assumes responsibility as delegated for the financial accounting records and management accounting reports.
Ensures accounting transactions are recorded and reported in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
This position ensures the confidentiality, security and accuracy of guest’s and team member’s records, and promotes positive guest and team member relations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are required and outstanding guest service to fellow team members, guests, vendors, etc.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Assists in the supervision of the Revenue Audit Manager, Staff Accountants, Accounts Payable, and Payroll.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions of the Assistant Controller position classification includes but not limited to: Prepare, assist and review annual departmental budget process.
Acts as a resource to department managers on accounting/budget-related issues.
Create and maintains a system of budget variance reporting with departmental managers.
Generally oversees the accounting procedures and management of finance personnel, including the month-end closing process.
Oversees and prepares account analysis and other periodic reports as requested.
Reviews and issues month-end financial statements in a timely manner.
Responsible for departmental compliance with all State, Federal and Gaming regulations, including IRS reporting requirements (1099s, W2Gs, W-2s, 945, 11-Cs, etc.
).
Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve security and efficiency.
Ability to use analytical skills to problem-solve and identifies risk areas.
Ability to work under strict time constraints and to manage conflicting and multiple deadlines and assignments.
Conduct cost/benefit analysis and/or breakeven analysis and other projects assigned by the CFO.
Understands and adheres to all regulatory, Tribal, Casino and department rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or GED, Associates or Bachelors degree in relative field preferred.
SKILL, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of five (5) years of detailed general ledger experience and account analysis required, including a minimum three (3) years managerial/supervisory experience (preferably in the entertainment or hospitality field).
Experience with Sage 100 preferred and knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Ability to read, understand and interpret financial data required.
Must be detail-oriented and possess strong/highly developed analytical skills and the ability to think creatively about ways to analyze casino operations.
Advanced experience with standard Microsoft products required.
Good written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills, are a must.
Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
Strong business writing skills required.
Must be flexible with shift and able to work any day, including weekends and holidays, and any shift (day/swing/grave) as needed.
Must be a minimum of 21 years old and have the ability to obtain and retain a Washington State Class III Gaming License; successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger; handle; feel; or grip objects, stretch and/or reach with hands and arms; stoop; crouch or work in cramped or awkward positions; repetitive motions.
