We are looking for a Fiscal Technician to provide fiscal support to our Accounting Services team.
The duties performed by this position help ensure our members receive the retirement benefits they earn while in public service.
Working in a professional team environment, you will work directly with our members, their beneficiaries, financial institutions, and other agency employees regarding lost or destroyed warrants.
Tasks Include: Communicate over the telephone and through e-mail to resolve issues and/or replace the missing or destroyed payment; You will contact payees over the telephone to update bank account information and encourage them to start using direct deposit; Work in our cash room and open, review, sort, date-stamp, and enter each piece of correspondence received; Endorse all checks received and enter the payment information into a computer system in an accurate and timely manner; Provide assistance for the agency’s accounts payable, accounts receivable, payment reissues and purchasing functions; NOTE: The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
All work must be performed at the DRS facility in Tumwater, Washington.
Qualifications Desired Qualifications Include: Demonstrated ability to communicate and provide information to individuals over the telephone and in writing; Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices; Demonstrated proficiency in 10-key calculator operations; Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word (version 2013 or newer); Demonstrated experience accurately entering data and information into computer applications; and Demonstrated proficiency in the following competency areas; Dependability Shows commitment, dedication, and accountability in work.
