Grays Harbor College is now accepting applications for an Athletic Director.
We are looking for a dynamic leader with exceptional administrative, delegation, and organizational skills.
The Director is an innovative and forward-thinking leader who centers their decision-making process around student athletes and provides leadership, supervision, development, direction and management of all aspects of the Grays Harbor College (GHC) Athletic Department.
The Athletics Director has the ultimate responsibility for developing and implementing a comprehensive, enriching experience for student athletes that includes academic achievement, competitive athletics, and opportunities to pursue interests and passions.
The Athletics Department is fast-paced, high-energy, with work-intensive schedules including travel, weekends and evening work during peak periods.
The Director is an active member of the campus community, Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties and reports to the Vice President of Student Services.
The Director is a full-time, exempt position.

Full-time employees will also receive 15.
34 hours of vacation leave per month, 8 hours of sick leave per month and 4 personal leave days a year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Department Leadership & Supervision Provides leadership and administrative oversight for all aspects of the athletics department ensuring consistency with current, changing and future needs of student athletes, collegiate athletics, and the institution.
Promote a positive working environment within the athletic department and create a sense of belonging amongst the athletic department and related staff.
Provide culturally responsive leadership in promoting equitable access and successful educational outcomes for historically minoritized and under-served students Oversees athletics department efforts associated with recruitment, compliance, registration/eligibility, outcomes assessment, accreditation, fundraising, goal setting and continuous improvement Establish the overall standards of performance of personnel, policies and procedures, budgetary controls, contracts, directions of programs and services under this position’s supervision; monitor and evaluate effectiveness.
Develop and implement engagement and retention programs that enhance student success and promote successful educational outcomes of student-athletes.
Administer an orientation for incoming student-athletes as well as a new coach onboarding program and professional development series that is based on regional guidelines and industry best practices.
Oversee the usage of athletic facilities and implementation of special events, including but not limited to department banquets, awards, and sports camps.
Evaluate facilities and equipment; ensure that all facilities and equipment are safe and in good working order, coordinate with facilities on upgrades, repairs, and maintenance, and develop and maintain inventory of equipment.
Administrative Ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies and procedures, conference rules and regulations as set forth by Grays Harbor College, the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC), National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA), Washington State and federal guidelines.
Service as athletic commissioner for the NWAC.
Attend meetings, committees and/or conferences as program representative.
Oversee completion of athletic administration compliance requirements, including but not limited to; letter of intent, athletic eligibility reports for all intercollegiate sports, tracer reports, grant in aid report, and maintaining student-athlete records in accordance with the rules and regulations of the applicable association.
Prepare and maintain administrative and business reports, forms and records, or supervise staff, student support staff engaged in these tasks.
Monitor and ensure equity of opportunity in men’s and women’s athletics by keeping informed of legal requirements regarding Title IX compliance; responsible for completing the Department of Education’s Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act Survey.
Facilitate workshops and trainings on issues of preventing alcohol/drug abuse, sexual assault/violence and hazing.
Maintain strong collaborative relationships with the Director of Campus Life and the ASGHC student leadership to enhance support for athletic programs and ensure there are opportunities for student athletes to be involved in campus life.
Prepare and get institutional approval of an annual departmental budget based on multiple funding sources (student fees, institutional and fundraised dollars) for all athletic programming.
Utilize financial forecasting to determine future costs of athletic programming and plan annual budgets.
Manage and approve all program expenditures and disseminate budget information to coaches and staff of each athletic program.
Regularly analyze financial statements and budget reports and make informed decisions for the athletic department budget based on this information.
Assure compliance with college finance rules, procedures and deadlines.
Oversee the development of competition schedules and all related travel arrangements for athletic teams and department personnel through assigned staff.
Advise administration as to the value/issues of college owned/leased buses.
Ensure game management responsibilities occur through assigned staff Campus Involvement & Community Leadership Maintain active communication with the college community in order to promote the integration of athletics into the broader educational mission of the college.
Be an active participant of the Student Services Leadership Team (SSALT) Develop and execute a fundraising plan in support of men’s and women’s athletics in coordination with multiple college and community stakeholders and in compliance with college, state guidelines rules and regulations around fundraising Responsible for the administration of the Grays Harbor Choker Club 501c3, which since the late 1940’s has provided financial support in a variety of ways to the athletic department and its sports programs.
Initiate and coordinate efforts to promote and market athletic programs on campus and with organizations and the media.
Working with the Marketing & College Relations Office when appropriate.
Oversee department publications, web pages, social media channels and ensure compliance with College’s brand standards and marketing style guides.
Represent the college at various community-based events, committees and work groups to enhance department goals/objectives as requested.
Serve on division, and college committees as requested by the Vice President.
Respond to campus emergencies as needed.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise and evaluate coaching staff, program managers, student success navigator and student support staff assigned to the athletic department.
