POSITION DESCRIPTION
As the Nursery Crew Lead, you are responsible for assisting the Nursery Manager with directing and leading a crew of about 3-8 individuals, depending on the task.
You will be required to communicate with the manager on a regular basis, help with all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the nursery floats.
The Nursery Crew Lead must have a current Washington State Boater’s Card and be able to operate a boat in all types of weather conditions and at various times of day when scheduled by the manager.
The Nursery Crew Lead must be 21 years of age or older with a clean driving record.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES
Communicate well with team about weekly needs for work
Maintain accurate records of seed count and document seed health
Organize and tag/label seed as needed
Alert manager of any tools or equipment that needs repair or replacing
Ensure workers follow all company safety, ECOP, and HR policies
Setting of seed, measuring seed, and picking up seed from hatchery
Work alongside with the rest of crew with cleaning tanks, moving trays from setting tanks to geoduck nursery and cleaning the pods on nursery
Must maintain proper employee conduct including being aware and respectful of time of day, noise level and the homeowners that surround the floats and facilities
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Regular, reliable, predictable attendance, setting an example for crew members
Must have reliable transportation
Must be physically able to repeatedly lift and handle sixty pounds
Must be able to speak and hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, other crew leads, and managers
Must wear proper safety gear when necessary, life vest at all times
Must have the ability to swim
Must maintain company provided gear: gloves, boots, rain gear, bibs, and head lamp.
May be required to work at other work sites/locations as needed and work weekends and occasionally holidays
Will be required to pick up garbage found on beach, floats, and on water if accessible
Ability to sit, stand and/or walk on uneven ground up to 8 hours per day
The employee will be required to stoop, bend, kneel, twist, squat, or stand
The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
Will be required to complete and maintain forklift certification with Taylor Shellfish
Must be able to use hands for repetitive simple grasping, pushing and pulling
