About the position This position is a part of the Strategy & Management Division (SMD).
SMD leads the implementation of strategic direction and enterprise architecture for information technology and oversees the portfolio of major IT projects for state government.
As the Organizational Change Management Manager, you will oversee WaTech’s Organizational Change Management (OCM) strategy and execution by developing a mature OCM framework, providing executive sponsor OCM coaching and managing agency change initiatives to ensure successful projects and initiatives as measured through adoption rates and metrics.
Duties Some of what to expect with this role: Use change management methods to support Lean/Continuous Improvement, performance management, governance, and other organizational changes.
Design, develop, coordinate, implement, deliver, evaluate, and execute a change management program using Prosci’s ADKAR model (Awareness, Desire, Knowledge, Ability and Reinforcement).
Work with all levels of WaTech management to manage and control large-scale, high-risk agency projects.
Collaborate with sponsors, project team and agency communications resources to design and deliver proactive communication and develop marketing strategies in support of organizational change management.
Conduct impact analyses, assess change readiness, and identify key stakeholders.
Consult and coach project teams, managers, and supervisors to drive adoption and operationalize change throughout the agency.
Provide or organize training to teach sponsors, managers, and supervisors how to identify and manage anticipated resistance and increase adoption.
Develop a formal WaTech Organizational Change Management Community of Practice.
Apply a change management process and tools to create a strategy to support adoption of the changes.
Create actionable deliverables for the five change management levers: communications plan, sponsor roadmap, coaching plan, training plan and resistance management plan.
Integrate change management activities into project plans.
Serve as a trusted leader throughout the agency to drive adoption of change and support continuous improvement work across the organization.
Here’s what we’re looking for: A bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field of study AND five years of direct organizational change management leadership experience.
**Additional combination of education, work experience, and/or completion of an accredited training program may substitute for the degree.
** The required experience must include: Five years of professional experience guiding people and processes through medium to large organizational change initiatives utilizing formal change management strategies such as Prosci’s ADKAR model.
Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.
Direct experience developing strategic long-term change management operating plans, goals, and objectives for their programs for a future state.
Preference may be granted to applicants with the following: Familiarity with project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle.
Change management certification or designation.
Experience using and applying Lean principles and methods, including 5S, standard work, leader standard work, four-step problem solving, value stream mapping, visual management, and Gemba walks.
Proven experience working with executives, managers, and project teams to design and implement change management strategies.
Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges.
Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts.
