What you will be doing: The Communications Division is hiring a Web Content Manager to provide leadership and oversight of the agency’s websites.
In this role, you will lead the agency’s comprehensive content governance strategy.
You will be a key member of an exciting 3-year web transformation project focused on improving our customers’ digital experience with DES services.
This project includes improving the content on DES.

gov and building a “Visit Capitol Campus” website.
You will work closely with subject matter experts and play a key role in identifying opportunities to improve customers’ online experience with DES and better meet their needs.
You will be responsible for producing, managing, and testing content and maintaining the integrity of the sites’ information architecture to ensure the agency’s services and products are accessible and usable.
You also will train and consult with content contributors on plain language, usability, and accessibility principles and regularly audit for all three.
This is a full-time telework position with occasional required in-person meetings in the Olympia area.
Some of the duties include: Serving as the agency information manager responsible for developing and managing complex public information activities, including the development of policies, goals, and objectives: Plan, develop, administer, and direct an integrated content strategy across the agency’s primary public website and associated sites.
Manage communications web team; Direct agency web content strategy.
Determine appropriate methods and techniques for sharing communications-related information including website content management.
Implement agency branding on websites and digital content.
Direct website user testing and content improvement efforts.
Advising agency top management on public information activities and issues pertaining to legislative activities, initiatives, and directives.
Create and lead governance of the agency website, to include documentation and training, in accordance with marketing and branding strategy, business goals, and user needs.
Develop policies, goals, and objectives for website content as it relates to agency legislative activities, initiatives, and directives.
Collaborate with agency public affairs, government relations, and information technology divisions to identify issues of reputational risk and advises course of action.
Analyze extent of public understanding of agency programs and determine the need and type of information and educational programs required.
Directing the work of other professional information staff in support of website communications strategies: Assign content projects to writers and review/approve work.
Proactively prepare for and rapidly respond to crisis situations; assisting with continuity of operations in a crisis or emergency.
Advise leadership on public information strategies during a crisis.
Serve on Communications agency crisis communications team when activated.
Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in communications, marketing, user experience, public relations, journalism, or closely related field; AND Five (5) years of professional experience in marketing, branding, content development, user experience, public relations, or closely related field.
OR Any combination of education and relevant professional experience totaling nine (9) years.
The most successful incumbent will also possess and/or be proficient in the following skills and competencies: Applying best practices in strategic communications and marketing planning.
Determining needs for education and outreach that are tied to consumer behavior.
Producing written, visual, and verbal communications about complex topics that spur customers to action.
Organizing, preparing, and deploying comprehensive marketing campaigns.
Building collaborative partnerships both internally and externally to an organization.
Managing and leading numerous projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Producing materials that follow readability (e.
g.
Plain Talk), usability and accessibility guidelines.
Working seamlessly in Microsoft Office Suite.
Basic experience in website management (HTML, CMS), photography and videography (create, edit, publish).
Demonstrating a competency and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.

Desired Qualifications: Experience providing communication support in a human resources/human development-related field.
Accredited in Public Relations designation (APR).
