Description The Washington State Department of Revenue (DOR) is currently seeking a Tax Administration Manager (TAM) within the Audit division in Tumwater, Washington.
This position manages the Real Estate Excise Tax (REET) unit, which administers Washington’s Excise Tax on Real Estate Taxes program, which is a tax on the sale of real property and applies to transfers of controlling interest in entities that own real property in the state.
This position manages and is the subject matter expert for the REET program, including statewide audits of property transfers recorded at the county, exemption audits, and controlling interest audits filed with DOR.
The TAM is the expert on tax administration, audit policies, and procedures, excise tax rules and laws, taxpayer rights, agency responsibilities, management principles, and personnel rules.

Duties Manage seven to twelve professional level staff on the Real Estate Excise Tax Team.
Ensure consistency in the application of tax administration policies and procedures throughout the division.
Develop strategies and tactical plans within the scope of assigned goals and objectives of the division.
Utilize a broad range of advanced managerial knowledge and skills to lead and motivate staff to achieve efficient and effective program administration and for monitoring individual, team and program performance.
Apply tactical and strategic thinking when managing programs and keep senior managers informed when significant issues arise.
Provide expert advice to staff on tax administration for assigned tax programs.
Advise other divisions on tax administration policies, procedures, and modifications for the mission critical excise tax systems as it relates to assigned programs.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, public administration, or a related field.
Minimum one year experience as a Department of Revenue Excise Tax Examiner 3 or 4.
Additional experience in tax administration, tax policy, or in tax auditing may substitute year-for-year for the education.
