About the job:
ECEAP is looking to create a pool of Center Substitutes to work on call basis to provide additional classroom support.
Done for the purpose of providing positive interactions with preschool children; facilitating age-appropriate activities under the direction of the lead teacher and/or education manager; providing clerical support to classroom staff; assisting in maintaining a clean and safe classroom environment; and assisting and supervising students while they are being transported to and from school on the bus.
Duties
Responsibilities of this position:
Assists teachers with age-appropriate activities (e.
g.
, games, art, music, science, language, nutrition) by interacting with individual or small groups of students for the purpose of guiding and/or reinforcing learning concepts and by addressing student's needs.
Instruct students for the purpose of enforcing rules and regulations and providing positive guidance.
Monitor children in various indoor and outdoor activities (e.
g.
, lunch, snack time, rest periods, group, or individual play, etc.
) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
Prepare and distribute instructional and/or play materials for the purpose of providing students with necessary items and assisting the teacher in the classroom.
Assist students (e.
g.
, tying shoes, mittens, hats, coats, etc.
) for the purpose of meeting their needs during transport, and safely loading and unloading from buses including both emergency situations and normal transport.
Secure students and/or equipment (e.
g.
, wheelchairs, seat belts, etc.
) on the bus for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of students.
Maintain classroom equipment and work areas for the purpose of ensuring availability of items and/or providing for a clean and safe learning environment.
Perform record keeping and clerical functions (e.
g.
, copying, attendance, etc.
) for the purpose of supporting the classroom staff.
Report observations and incidents (e.
g.
, discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.
) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate personnel.
Prepare written materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing reliable information, and complying with program requirements.
Promote good habits for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes and encouraging student development.
Interact with children, families, and co-workers in a positive manner.
Maintain confidentiality.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What we are looking for in a candidate:
Our ideal candidate is someone with experience working and/or volunteering in an early childhood program.
Experience with ECEAP, Head Start, and/or other state Pre-K programs, including as a parent/guardian, is a plus.
Our ideal candidate also has some experience using Microsoft Programs including Outlook.
Qualifications:
� High school diploma or equivalent.
� Some experience working with young children.
Position requirements:
� A DCYF Portable Background Check.
� Proof of a recent negative TB test.
� Infant/Child CPR/First Aid certification.
� Food handler?s card.
� Participation in assigned initial and on-going professional development.
