Position Details Position Information Position Title Python Programming (Part-time adjunct, Winter, Spring 2024) Job Summary This posting is for adjunct faculty to teach a 2-quarter sequence of Python programming classes in Winter and Spring 2024.
This is a quarter-time position in each quarter.
Courses to be taught will be Introduction to Python 1 and 2.
These courses are part of the College’s new school for Professional and Continuing Education.
These courses will be offered remotely via Zoom Job Expectations This is an adjunct faculty position and is not eligible for continuing appointment.
All requirements for these positions must be completed at the time of hire.

We do not offer relocation expenses for our adjunct faculty positions.
This a remote position that does not require teaching on our physical campus in Olympia, Washington.
However a condition of employment is that you have residency in one of the following states: California, Colorado, Oregon, New York, Texas, or Washington State and teach remotely from that state.
The Evergreen State College offers full-time programs during the day and courses and half-time programs during evening hours and on weekends, and remotely in Professional and Continuing Education.
The curriculum in Professional and Continuing Education is based on certificate and degree completion programs and includes 2-credit, 4-credit, and 8-credit offerings, normally planned at a 25:1 student to faculty ratio, and capstone work including undergraduate research or internships and individual study.
Evergreen uses narrative evaluations in lieu of grades and faculty are generally responsible for evaluating 25 students/quarter in each class.
Faculty are also responsible for advising students as they reflect on their learning process, develop a pathway of study, and formulate their own areas of concentration.
Our teaching is student-centered, which means we are interested in helping students develop strong skills in critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaborative work.
Because over 80% of our students come from underserved and marginalized groups, we are particularly invested in approaches to teaching that emphasize diversity and equity, that provide opportunities for challenge and growth, and that foster a learning environment where all are welcome and all can learn from each other.

Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field College-level teaching experience Commitment to serving populations which are typically underserved in higher education settings.
Preferred Qualifications A terminal degree in computer science or related field Experience teaching and mentoring groups of students who are diverse in age, work experience, and background Experience with Python Conditions of Employment * As a condition of employment, persons hired must provide proof of identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of beginning work.
* Prior to an official offer of employment, a Declaration Regarding Sexual Misconduct form must be submitted to the college per RCW 28B.
