What You'll Do The Career Services Assistant II will provide front desk and/or office coverage for the ACT Center and specialized services for the Career Services team.
Primarily responsible for providing information and resources to students and alumni.
Responsible for the upkeep of the front desk, ACT Center, other assigned tasks.
Will learn and perform a variety of routine office support functions such as: copying, filing, typing, answering the phone, assisting professional staff, and greeting visitors.
Will be expected to present yourself in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
Duties may also include: Scheduling appointments, meetings, and events using Microsoft Outlook and Compass.
Answering various questions related to the ACT Center and making appropriate referrals via email, phone, and in-person correspondence.
Helping to identify and locate information on advising, careers, and transfer using tools such as Career Coach, Handshake, SPSCC website, and other resources.
Filing complete Running Start Fee waiver documentation.
Regularly attending Advising Team meetings.
Assisting and advising students in writing new or editing existing cover letters and resumes for job search and career exploration.
Assisting and advising students in developing interview skills and strategies for job search and career exploration.
Assisting Careers Services staff with student job searches and career exploration in relevant fields.
Utilizing various college technology (SPSCC Website, Canvas, ctcLink, HP, Career Coach, Clippers4Hire, and Compass) and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) to track student interest and education activity.
Acting as a point of contact for the ACT Center, responding to basic inquiries and assisting with scheduling.
Setting up and maintaining files of correspondence and records.
Assisting with the design of marketing materials (i.
e.
, posters, forms, flyers, PowerPoint presentations) for upcoming events or presentations.
