Job Title: Waterfront Coordinator Pay Range: $680-790 per week FLSA Status: Exempt Location: YMCA Camp Bishop Reports to: Overnight Camp Program Director 2024 Camp Dates: June 24th-August 16th POSITION SUMMARY: Leads and maintains safe, enjoyable, age-appropriate waterfront programs and events.
Supervises all waterfront activities including (but not limited to) swimming, boating, fishing, and water sports.
Provides progressive instruction in waterfront activities.
Supports Summer Camp Coordinator and leadership staff in organization and implementation of overall camp program.
Provides a quality experience to campers and families focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Represents the YMCA and self in a professional manner of safety and fun.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Planning and Program Delivery: • Plan, organize, and facilitate all waterfront programming for overnight camp.
• On-duty emergency lead, as described in the EAP.
• Monitor waterfront equipment and supplies; repair and replenish as necessary.
• Create daily lifeguard schedule for open waterfront and activity periods.
• Collaborate with leadership staff to create activity staff schedule to ensure guard coverage.
• Implement YMCA of the USA Safety Around Water program during activity time.
• Work alongside all staff to coordinate and implement overall camp program.
• Provide risk management and camp safety guidance for all camp programs.
• Serve as a cabin counselor when coverage is needed.
Coach: • Serve as supervisor and leader to lifeguards and swim instructors.
• Complete weekly drop drills and provide staff with timely feedback and coaching.
• Maintain weekly observations on staff performance; give staff positive and constructive feedback; communicate significant observations to direct supervisors.

• Regularly required to talk, hear, and/or communicate with others.
• Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands, and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move a higher amount.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, with or without accommodation.
• Must participate in programming outdoors, regardless of weather.

QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum 18 years of age and at least one year out of high school.
• One season or more of camp experience.
• Current Small Craft Safety Certification or YMCA Lifeguard/Red Cross Lifeguard certification (or the ability to obtain these certifications before season).
• Washington State Boaters’ License (must be obtained by the start of staff training).
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications.
• Experience in teaching boating and/or two years of personal boating experience.
• Previous experience supervising youth in programs or work setting • Positive attitude and previous experience with diverse populations • Knowledge and skills in program activities and related equipment set-up, and the ability to instruct participants in age appropriate techniques.
Pay Structure: As a seasonal recreation facility, Camp Bishop is exempt from minimum wage requirements.
Staff are paid a daily stipend, rounded to the half day.
In accordance with state and federal law for seasonal recreation employment, staff are given 24 hours of rest time for every 7 days worked, as well as room and board while camp is in session.
Additionally, staff are given a 30 min break each day.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary Pay: $680.
