Our Driver and Vehicle Investigations Unit is currently seeking a skilled Investigator to join our expanding team.

Duties In this role as an Investigator, you will be a key member of a successful team responsible for impartially investigating fraud related to driver's licenses and ID cards using various systems.
You will also be tasked with conducting routine investigations into vehicle title and registration fraud to recover taxes and fees.
Your role will include providing support to victims of identity theft by educating and guiding them on how to protect their identities, as well as reviewing law enforcement requests for disclosure of images and records.
Your efforts will also involve identifying strategies to mitigate fraud within systems and processes.
Some of what you will be doing: Researching and investigating title and registration fraud.
Interviewing potential suspects based on information found.
Writing chronological reports containing substantiating facts and document the determination that a state and/or federal law has been violated.
Modifying identity information on driver records to directly assist Licensing Service Representatives with the issuance of standard and enhanced driver licenses and ID cards.
Providing vital assistance to stakeholders and customers regarding explanation or interpretation of agency programs, policies, procedures, WACs, RCWs, and management decisions.
Qualifications What you will bring: Two (2) years of work experience gathering and substantiating facts through the use of investigative duties as follows: Researching and analyzing records and developing case files.
Obtaining statements of fact or depositions.
Writing reports to establish proof of fact to be used in a court or administrative hearing.
OR Two (2) years of college-level course work with emphasis in law or one of the criminal justice disciplines or directly allied field, may be substituted for the required experience for all but one year of the required investigative experience.
What may help you stand out: Experience organizing multiple assignments to produce accurate, thorough, and timely reports.
Experience responding to difficult situations by minimizing potential conflict and maintaining good relationships.
Experience using data and information clearly to assess and understand issues, evaluate options, form accurate conclusions, and make decisions.
Experience handling highly stressful situations and making appropriate decisions calmly and accurately.
Ability to use effective partnering to help clients identify, evaluate, and resolve complex or sensitive issues, problems, and service needs.
Ability to effectively listen and apply effective written and oral communication techniques to convey clear, timely, persuasive messages that positively influence the thoughts and actions of others.
Experience identifying internal and external customer service delivery requirements to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and satisfaction.
Experience working independently, with no on-site supervisory direction at times.
Ability to recognize facial anatomy identification and use comparison techniques.
Additional Conditions of employment: In office presence is required (1) day per week and up to three (3) weeks at a time at the Highways and Licensing Building (HLB), in Olympia, WA.

Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted.
Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.
Must prove US citizenship and pass fingerprint based federal background check to include a malfeasance check on employee for the past five (5) years.
In addition, an acceptable fingerprint based criminal history background check is also required for this position, as a condition of employment.
