The Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) are an essential partner for the implementation of WA Cares Fund within local communities.
As the state’s local aging services planning entity, Area Agencies on Aging play a critical role in developing resources and serving individuals who need long-term care in their home and community.
If you are familiar with the scope of an Area Agency on Aging and have a passion for ensuring local communities are supported in implementing a large statewide initiative, this could be the role for you.
The WA Cares Fund Area Agency on Aging Program Manager is responsible for WA Cares Fund policy, procedures, and contractual agreements with Area Agencies on Aging.
You will work with individual Area Agencies on Aging throughout the state to assess readiness and build local strategies for implementation.
You will be one of the foundational members to build and launch approved services for the nation’s first Long-Term Services and Supports social insurance program.
The WA Cares Fund is the first program of its kind in the United States and is the latest example of why Washington State is a national leader in long-term care policy.
Our team is responsible for designing and implementing the program and helping Washingtonians understand this new benefit.
This position will lead the statewide planning efforts for implementation of WA Cares Fund within Area Agencies on Aging.
Some of what you’ll do: Identify effective change management strategies and lead change management efforts in collaboration with Area Agency on Aging Directors.
Develop and maintain statewide WA Cares Fund policies and procedures for Area Agencies on Aging.
Serve as the primary WA Cares Fund liaison and collaborate with Area Agency on Aging subject matter experts to develop procedures and processes that promote consistency across all AAAs.
Provide technical assistance and support and coordinate with AAAs to implement new bodies of work for WA Cares FundDevelop and negotiate annual WA Cares Fund contract language and deliverables for Area Agencies on AgingProvide contract and deliverable oversight, review and approve annual Area Agency on Aging WA Cares Fund contract budgets, reports, and invoices.
What we’re looking for: A clear communicator with the ability to collaborate on policy and procedure development across agencies to achieve a common goal A highly organized professional with the ability to coordinate multiple work products and meet critical deadlinesAn analytic thinker with the ability to make critical decisions and follow through with implementation steps Who should apply: Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, business administration, public administration, healthcare administration, or related field and A minimum, five years of experience with program management, strategic planning, contract development, or administering community-based supportive services for seniors and/or people with disabilities.
Demonstrated knowledge of the scope and operations of an Area Agency on Aging.
Knowledge and skills in management principles including policy writing, project management, contract negotiation, budget development, evaluation, and community services planning and development.
Knowledge of advanced principles of leadership and change management, strategic planning, quality management techniques, community organization skills, budget, work plan, and other workflow methods.
Excellent organizational skills, including ability to coordinate multiple projects and to meet legislative and administrative deadlines.
