Office of Accounting Services is seeking to fill a Senior Financial Coordinator position.
This is a perfect opportunity for you to utilize your analytical skills and expertise on DSHS’s financials and general business concepts to perform advanced professional accounting/auditing to facilitate the management of DSHS’s financials.

In this role, you will use your knowledge of Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS), Enterprise Reporting, WEBi, while learning the new state ERP system ‘Workday’ to provide customer service and consultation to various levels of users on account coding edits, cost allocation, journal vouchers, and expenditure adjustments.
Additionally, perform financial analysis, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and provide technical guidance and assistance related to statewide and internal accounting and cost allocation systems.
Some of what you will do Provide professional financial solutions to complex accounting/system problems.
Provide consultative services to DSHS staff regarding accounting policy, procedures and controls, and agency financial systems.
Reconcile general ledgers.
Coordinate with others on technical problems and proposed modifications related to statewide financial and reporting systems.
Review financial data, identify problems, and help implement appropriate corrections and systems changes.
Monitor and improve work processes and develop ways to make processes more efficient.
What we are looking for One year of experience and in-depth understanding of state accounting and reporting systems; Financial Toolbox, AFRS, Cost Allocation System, PACAP, Medicaid, and Enterprise Reporting.
Must have strong practical and theoretical knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), state and federal laws and regulations, and contract and grant administration.
Strong analytical skills paired with knowledge of financial analysis and general business concepts.
Recognize and resolve complex accounting and business problems with consideration of short and long-term effects on the agency.
Excellent research skills are necessary.
Experience with OFM's State Accounting and Administrative Manual (SAAM).
Expert-level abilities within Excel, expert knowledge of computerized accounting systems and Microsoft Office products.
Excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills.
Work independently and take the initiative to complete tasks/projects within given time constraints.
Who should apply? Professionals with a bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance; OR an associate degree that includes 30 quarter (20 semesters) credit hours in accounting AND three years of professional accounting experience.
Experience with governmental accounting and working knowledge of governmental GAAP and one year of experience with accounting systems design, including developing and documenting business and technical requirements.
OR An MBA and two years of professional experience in governmental accounting with knowledge of governmental GAAP and one year of experience with accounting systems design, including developing and documenting business and technical requirements.
