Description: Company Background: Alta Forest Products, in partnership with Itochu Building Products, is the world's largest producer of wood fence boards, specializing in Western Red Cedar and other premium species found in the Pacific and Inland Northwest forests.
In addition to producing fence boards and pallet stock lumber, Alta's zero-wood-waste sawmills produce by-products such as wood chips, sawdust, mulch, and biofuel.
Headquartered in centrally located Chehalis, Washington, Alta operates fence board sawmills in four other rural communities: Morton, WA; Shelton, WA; Amanda Park, WA; and Naples, ID.
The Role: The Project Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of assisting the project manager, including planning, organizing project activities, and cost tracking throughout the life cycle of projects.
Project Coordinators handle projects with the goal of seeing them through on time and within budget.
Corporate Project Coordinators' roles are crucial to a company's success because they ensure projects run smoothly by controlling workflow, scheduling assignments, evaluating the course of the project, and reporting its status to the Project Manager.
Responsibilities: Maintaining and monitoring project plans, project schedules, work hours, budgets, and expenditures.
Organizing, attending, and participating in project meetings.
Documenting and following up on necessary actions and decisions from meetings.
Preparing necessary presentation materials for meetings.
Ensuring project deadlines are met.
Determining project changes.
Providing administrative support as needed.
Undertaking project tasks as required.
Developing project strategies.
Ensuring projects adhere to frameworks and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project.
Assess project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable.
Ensure stakeholder views are managed towards the best solution.
Chair and facilitate meetings where appropriate and distribute minutes to all project team members.
Create a project management calendar for fulfilling each goal and objective.
Provides expert consultation for designing, developing, and implementing automated equipment and systems.
Ensures that safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner.
Provides strong customer service to mill workers, vendors, and contractors.
Performs analysis for all projects, including financial, operational, and technical analysis.
Develops process methods and controls to meet quality standards.
Develops, writes, implements, submits, and/or presents various technical reports in support of cost reduction and operational efficiency improvements.
Prepares standard work and training protocol for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment and systems installed.
Troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, and process issues and provides technical leadership and training to resolve issues.
Leads technology strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals.
Leads multiple projects, people, priorities, and tasks.
Maintains and monitors security measures, training, and procedures.
Ensure that all administrative tasks for your department are completed in a timely manner.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Qualifications Minimum four years of experience, preferably in a sawmill, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment.
Demonstrated project management skills in the following: Concept design definition Preliminary budget creation Mechanical/Electrical/Controls Definition, i.
e.
, Scope of Work General time management/tracking tools Cost tracking Commissioning of equipment and automation where applicable General reporting skills and tools Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Detail-oriented with solid self-discipline and organizational skills Aptitude in Autocad 2D and Solidworks 2D/3D or similar modeling is desired.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks or projects concurrently.
Self-starter able to work independently.
Strong mathematical skills, proficient in calculations and basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
Knowledge of plant equipment, operations, predictive/preventative maintenance systems, and effective project management practices Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization.
Self-disciplined with attention to detail Must be able to work effectively independently and in a team.
Previous experience or a solid working knowledge of controls, automation, and optimization would be a benefit.
Work Environment This role will operate in a professional office, log yards, and sawmill.
While performing the duties of this job, employees will regularly be exposed to machinery and moving mechanical parts.
This position will often be exposed to noise, hazards, airborne particulates, and temperature changes in indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
Position Type/Travel This is a full-time position; overtime work may be required as projects or job duties demand.
Travel for this position may be required up to 35%.

Position Type/Travel/Schedule This position is exempt per FLSA guidelines and not eligible for overtime.
A typical schedule requires the ability to work 40 hours a week.
Flexibility to work evenings or weekends to accommodate critical goals and objectives may be necessary.
