The Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of *Psychologist 4* at the Washington Corrections Center located in Shelton, WA.
The Washington Corrections Center (WCC) is a state prison for men, with an operating capacity of 1,268 incarcerated individuals.
WCC includes the Reception Center in which all individuals entering the Washington State Prison System must pass through to be permanently assigned to their long-term care facility.
The Psychologist 4 directly supervises a group of dynamic mental health professionals in providing ethical and humane services to individuals assigned to WCC.
This leadership role establishes and maintains the standards for mental health services set forth by the Department of Corrections (DOC) so as to carry out its mission, "to improve public safety", by influencing front line staff in promoting mental health stability and increased functioning for mentally ill patients.
As one of two Mental Health supervisors at WCC, this position works collaboratively with their fellow Psychologist 4 to administratively plan, develop, and direct psychological assessments, clinical interventions, psychotherapeutic, psychosocial education and Incarcerated individual change services for individuals assigned to the facility.
The main focus for the Psychologist 4 in this position are the permanent residential units to include Evergreen, Cedar Hall, Pine Hall, Intensive Management Unit (IMU), and the Close Observation Area (COA).
The Psychologist 4 serves as psychological consultant to the Clinical Director, Superintendent and medical staff on problems involving psychological services.
As the *Psychologist 4*, duties may also include:
Providing Direct Patient Care
* Directs or provides individual and group psychotherapy to patients.
* Psycho-diagnostic testing of patients.
* Interviews patients' relatives and enlists their aid in rehabilitation of patients.
* Directs and participates in clinical staff meetings.
Supervision
* Directs, and evaluates staff assigned under their supervision.
This includes both administrative and clinical performance, sets expectations for performance outcomes and quality.
* Establish performance expectations and goals for your team that are specific and measurable.
* Reviewing charts, reading and approving treatment plans, MHA's & MHU's.
* Meet regularly with each employee to set and clarify expectations, provide feedback, and coaching.

* A *Doctoral Degree in Psychology* from an accredited school or Department of Psychology whose accreditation is recognized by the U.
S.
Department of Education and the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
* Possession of a currentlicense to practice psychology in the state of Washington.
* Each employee is expected to maintain and adhere to the continuing education requirements for the applicable professional credential.
Each employee must adhere to legislation and/or law changes that may affect current licensure and/or registration requirements.
